As the first half of the year progresses it is important to remain aware and vigilant. Whilst crime may have been less than expected in the festive season, February has shown an increase in cable theft and burglaries on business premises. SAPS and ST3 Security work around the clock to ensure that all criminal activity is apprehended, but we can assist them by reporting any suspicious or criminal activity. A lot of crime goes unreported and this is detrimental to the allocation of law enforcement resources to the area. If you wish to see increased safety then please report any criminal activity or break-ins at your premises to the SAPS at the Blue Downs Police Station.
As time goes on we once again point out that most criminal activity is taking place on premises that are unprotected by either alarms, security guards and / or armed response. We implore all factory owners to ensure that their sites are well protected, for the sake of their staff and assets. We are very grateful to those who have already secured their premises as this aids the security forces in better assisting you and attracts less crime and would be criminals to the area in general.
We would like to draw your attention to two key issues. Firstly, a new MO has appeared in the area, in which a group of persons is entering and leaving factories via the roof as this presents an easy access point. Please ensure you are aware of this and have security maintaining a watchful eye, whilst ensuring the open spaces are covered by your alarm system. Secondly, please report any illegal dumping as it is still a problem. Reporting dumping allows us to deal with the situation quickly and efficiently. Photographic evidence and registration plate numbers will also be of great help in apprehending / dealing with and potentially taking legal action against the suspects.
For any security information and assistance; or to report illegal dumping in process, please contact the City of Cape Town on 0860 103 098 and / or ST3 Security on (021) 905 3399. To report illegal dumping please contact the City of Cape Town at 0860 103 098 or us at (021) 905 0929.
